“Lanna Rama IX Park landscape renovation project for improving music and performance culture, Chiang Mai” is aimed to develop Lanna Rama IX Park, Chiang Mai to be the first music and performance center in Chiang Mai, in order to turn Chiang Mai into “music city” completing the UNESCO criteria as to achieve Chiang Mai Musician Singers Actors Assiociation (CMSAA)’s goals.

This project is designed under three conditions. First of all, the original park activity must be preserved, also merged with the music and performance activity. Secondly, Traditional Lanna music and performance cultures must be applied in the designing process. Lastly, it is necessary for the designer to carry out King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s wisdom of music and environmental management theory.

This project combines the words “Music and performance” together with “Lanna Rama IX park”, then converts them into physical design elements. If this project is implemented, it will be a modernly delightful and amazing landmark of Chiang Mai. Consequently, Thailand soon will be a world-wide music tourism country. Furthermore, it can bring a lot of advantages, for instance, to conserve and develop traditional music and also the other related cultures.
